Huis Zeist

The house is part of a residential block from the 1930s consisting of three homes under one large roof. The block features distinctive entrances on the street side. Curved masonry and window sections provide a pleasant transition from the outside to the inside, and the various entrances are visually marked with a strip of blue glazed tiles.

For the corner house, we designed an extension at the rear. The new garden room adds extra space to the living quarters. Together with the reintroduced ensuite cabinet it divides the previous open plan living space into three different sections.

With its generously overhanging roof, yellowish masonry and the replication of the street-side entrance, the extension forms a modern continuation to the original design, and provides an entrance along the garden that is equally generous as the front entryway.
