Long House
The project replaces an existing row house situated on a long and narrow lot. By conceiving the house as a sequence of equally important indoor and outdoor rooms, the house puts the extreme proportions of the lot to use.
The retained facade of the old house marks the line between public and private domain. Behind, an outdoor space provides room for a variety activities such as eating, gardening and playing. Halfway down the lot, a patio separates the living area from the bedrooms. Continuing from the master bedroom, a secluded garden allows for the most private activities of the house to take place.
